Kingsland Road, Ridley Road, Gillett Square
Ridley Road Market opens off the High Street six days a week and sells yam, snapper, fabric and phone cases from the same fifty yards. Gillett Square, just south, is a hard square with a jazz club on one side and table tennis in the middle, and the mix of people on it at six in the evening is the truest thing about the district.

Two Dalston stations, one minute apart
Dalston Junction is two minutes from the middle of the High Street and Dalston Kingsland is three, which is a peculiarity of the place: two Overground stations on different branches almost within sight of each other. Haggerston is ten minutes south if you would rather walk a stop.
