Three with auburn, and nothing padded
Three names, which is the true number rather than a flattering one. Auburn covers a real range here: waves that are almost copper in a low room, a dark red that reads brown until the light hits it, and a brown with auburn running through it that is the quietest of the three.
They sit within fifteen minutes of each other. Spitalfields, the station end of EC2M and the Hackney Road side of E2, which between them cover most of the hotels on the western edge of this site.

Lea is petite at 161 cm, with long auburn hair that waves properly rather than curls, and hazel eyes that shift with whatever light the street is giving. She wears soft colours in a district of black coats and takes the cobbles in flat shoes. Early twenties, warmer than the neighbourhood expects, and she will detour four minutes to show you a door she likes on Fournier Street.
Dark auburn red, curvy
Luna has dark auburn red hair worn long, brown eyes, curvy at 171 cm, and crosses the Liverpool Street concourse like somebody who has never missed a train. She likes high rooms and long views, keeps a running list of the best windows in the City and revises it whenever a new tower opens. Early twenties and easy to talk to inside about ninety seconds.
Auburn brown, slim
Patricia is long auburn brown, slim at 172 cm, with dark brown eyes and a level way of looking at people that heads off the usual nonsense before it starts. Late twenties, and better at dinner than almost anybody in this book: she keeps a conversation moving without taking it over, which is a rare skill and shows up fastest at a long table.
Three very different evenings
Lea is the walk around a district before the table. Luna is the high floor and the late kitchen. Patricia is the long dinner that does not want to end at ten. If you are choosing between them, choose on that rather than on the exact shade, because the shade is the thing that will matter least by nine o'clock.
They are also three different lengths of evening. An hour with Luna beside a window works perfectly well and often becomes two. Lea is at her best across a whole evening, since half of what she offers is the ten minutes of Spitalfields before you sit down. Patricia wants the four hour version, and the desk will say so rather than sell you the short one.
When each of them works
Luna takes the early evening bookings around the station, six to eight, which fill first and are worth asking about in the afternoon. Lea works dinners and evenings across E1 and EC2M and is an easy choice when the table is five minutes from your room. Patricia takes dinner dates and long evenings in E2, and her Fridays go earliest of the three.
